Transfer images using a linked camera

Top  Previous  Next

Most cameras allow you to directly link the camera to the computer. Usually this is done through a USB connection. IDimager can read the images from a directly linked camera in two ways:

1. Using a media connection

2. Using a PTP connection (Picture-Transfer-Protocol; a Windows specific protocol for transferring images to the computer).

The method to use mainly depends on how you have configured your camera. Most modern day cameras support both methods. Older cameras mostly use the media type connection. When using a media type connection, the camera becomes available in Windows as a new drive. To check how your camera is configured or for instruction on how to change the connection type, please read your cameras instruction manual.
